Post-Oscar Rave
This is a very late post.
I have been raving for the recent victory of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (my pick for the best film in 2004) on the Best Original Screenplay category. Kaufman and Gondry are real geniuses! My bet for this year's Best Actress was Kate Winslet, but I somehow expected Hilary Swank to grab the Oscar for her unsurpassed gucci handbags acting in this year's best film. For critics and pseudo-critics (like I've always been), this is her biggest rebound from her just as superb performance in Boys Don't Cry.
Overall, I was not disappointed with the results this year and the Academy rightfully awarded the deserving winners. Chris Rock's stint as master of ceremonies was definitely one of the good highlights - slapstick humor elevated to intellectual jesting (if there were such thing...).
Anyway, I'm up for a movie marathon this weekend. Here are just some of those films that I plan to watch:
1. Ray (starring Best Actor winner Jamie Foxx)
2. Training Day, The Manchurian Candidate, and Man of Fire (all Denzel movies)
3. Finding Neverland (Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet)

i only have four bets for the oscars, jamie fox, cate blanchet, eternal for original screenplay, and sideways for adapted screenplay. and they all won! :D
i partly wanted scorcese to win because he has made tons of really good movies but wala pang oscars. kahit political reasons dapat binigyan siya ng trophy. :(

actually, i didn't have time for the denzel marathon as i had to do something else last Saturday.
i got to watch 'Ray' and 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' yesterday though. Great films! =)
