Favorite band of the month...

UP DHARMA DOWN!!!

We sampled few tracks from the new cd "Fragmented" and a couple of faves would be "Pag-agos" and "Oo." First heard about them through the Sound (Bossa Manila) yahoo group sometime early '04, though, I never minded their announcements for upcoming band performances, then. It was only in late '05 when I got hooked to the video of "Maybe" (that video starring a frantic Meryl Soriano with the mascarra smudges/smoky-eye effect =)...the rhythm of which reminded me a lot of the bossanova-induced sounds of Sound in the song "Habulan."

I find their music very hypnotic and reviving. The genre is alternative without the metallic/distorted sounds you commonly hear whenever punk rock bands play. I haven't had the chance to read more about the album, but I suppose most of the songs are originals...something not very usual among signed OPM artists these days.

Anyway, to download snippets, you may visit this site and gucci bags. Better yet, buy the album!!! It's (more than) worth your 290 bucks =)
