The Making of A Fitness Buff (yeah, right!)
Just came back from the gym. =) To my surprise, I’ve made sure to go there at least thrice a week. The good thing is, for four weeks straight, I’ve consistently followed my workout plan and have encouraged teammates at work to make this a habit as well. The bad thing, however, is that my Friday workout club has never passed up pigging out at the nearest fast food chain or swanky bistro (…that, well, doesn’t really serve healthy stuff) right after gym sessions. So pass
ako tonight!
up:
gucci handbagsThis morning, I packed some big chunks of grilled tuna which I plan to eat after I publish my blog. I know it’s not as delectable as my workout buddies are savoring now, but I realized it’s time that I do myself one healthy favor. I'm counting on my willpower so I can sustain this routine at least for the next 7 days.
Anyhow, I’m certain I won’t be able to read emails and blogs this weekend. No internet connection at home…huhu…alright enough of this crap, I gotta be going. Have a restful weekend everyone! =)

Caffeine doses needed
I feel so sleepy this afternoon. This must have been induced by that weird-tasting mixed sea-food bathing in thick squash cream that I had for lunch. I know I need to complete some work before COB, but I've felt like my brain is not functioning well. Do I even need to take a breather? I dunno, I'm just too lazy to get off my seat and stroll outside the office building. The phone was just ringing several times, but I didn't move to pick it up. Oh thank God for voice mails! up:
gucci handbagsAnyway, you read it. We're off to Nueva Vizcaya next weekend to see Arlo's new artsy and craftsy fartsy refuge up north. His family has put up a small handicraft center to supply retailers and crafts-aficionados of genuine Filipino native goods...just a reaffirmation of the entire clan's strong fondness of things creative. I should have gone to the place two years ago, but with my very crammed schedule during the bank management training months, I had to turn down such a rare and wonderful opportunity to go trekking up the Batad Heights. Now, I've decided to pack my bags and join the fun.
In truth, I can't conceal my excitement because this shall be my first trip to the North (if I remember it correctly) after 4 years since I spent a Holy Week break at my Grandmother's house in Ilocos. I am terribly missing the tranquil and relaxing sights of beaches and tobacco plantations now. Haay...oh well, no swimming at the beach this time, but picturing a splendid backdrop of mountains, waterfalls, and brooks creates in me an unusual thrill. Just keeping my toes crossed, as always, that it wouldn't rain much during my time off.
Now, I'm back to my lethargic self...
Would you even dare...
Alright, this topic is inspired by some discussion I heard on the radio. The topic goes...
things to tell your dog, but you won't ever dare, not even imagine telling your girlfriend, wife, or partner's mother. hmmm...it would definitely be...
B - I - T - C - H !!!!
Tell me what's yours? mwehehehe!

(Cambodian) Citizen Jolie
Angelina Jolie just granted Cambodian citizenship. I know days have passed since they released the news but whoa! Is she trying to make a statement or what? up:
gucci bagsHmm...so assuming Jolie got elected or appointed, or by any means were to become PM of the former French Indo-Chinese state, wouldn't it be amusing to see her rub elbows with the rest of the ASEAN leaders; talk about transitioning to a two- or multi-party democratic government and further strengthening counter-Communist insurgency campaigns? And...just imagine how glittery the Cambodian leadership would be with Brad Pitt as her First Gentleman. hehehehe!

Gym Rant
Don't you just hate it when Narcissus' minions take photos of their semi-chiseled bodies inside the gym locker room? I mean, they can take photos of their goddamn bodies in their own private quarters for all I care, but please, not inside a locker room where my butt-naked glory completes their backdrop.
Some people are too self-absorbed to not get it...arrggh!!!

Of Weekends and Impulsiveness
I hate it, hate it, hate it!!! I can't believe the home PC needs fixing again. I was attempting to log on to YM early Friday morning when, all of a sudden, it just froze. Restarting didn't do any help as only 17 inches of nothing came into my view. Darn it! That made me fidgety over the weekend when I had to postpone all my plans to back up those important files and perform a hard disk clean up. Worse was that I felt extremely far away from my friends' reach. Weekends are the only time when, not minding work, I can freely explore the cyberspace, know about new intelligent stuff, and read other people's blogs. So such astonishing incident made my 2-day off unimaginably incomplete. Argghh!!!
To describe my feeling last Saturday, I was friggin' BORED to the core! I would have gone out during the day, albeit the skies weren't showing good signs that the rainstorm would soon stop. That gave me all of the time to read Sedaris' "Dress Your Family...", though, and it was a great consolation reading all those touching and hilarious episodes of his youth. =) Few hours after, I got tired reading. I badly needed some activity to perk me up, so with good sensual pleasure, I played with my instrument (hehehe!). up:
gucci bags
The auditory nerves reacted to how badly the impromptu music sounded on the piano, therefore I stopped and just phoned some close friends from my high school circle. It had been a while since I last shared balmy conversations with most of them, so I thought it was a perfect time that we converge at Arlo's place in UP Vill around midnight. I was glad that 80 percent of the total invited made it! =) Not bad. hehe! And so we headed for Eastwood City's ever famous "chibog-all-you-can" resto called Something Fishy. Wow, I saw all those large barracudas hanging on the walls as well as newsprint cut-outs of men showing off their barracudas (hehehe!), but no sea food was served on the buffet table. Ewan ko baka meron sa may gilid-gilid...Friends told me that they only serve breakfast buffet from 12 midnight to 10 in the morning. But at any rate, breakfast buffet for only 80 pesos was and will always be a nice treat. No other resto at Eastwood can beat that!!!
We haven't decided where else to go at 3 in the morning. As we strolled past the Blue Onion bar, Arlo proposed that we stop by for some light boozing and dancing. Okay, so we got in and predictably, friends heard of my usual "Not my crowd!" pronouncement. Minors almost filled in the spaces inside the bar so we had to stay at one corner where we could at least freely move some body parts. Music was unsavory...They mixed some R&B with radio edits of a few commonly heard house tunes, and by 4 am, the jock garnished it with Fatima Rainey's, Eric Gadd's, and Juice's...if you bought a copy of the bootleg 90s Referendum CD, you would agree how "gasgas" the music at Blue Onion was. We finally decided to leave the bar around 4:30 AM when I heard the remix of Simply Red's "Star." I somehow expected that "How Gee!" was on queue.
We got back at Arlo's place few minutes before 5AM. We slept over until past lunchtime when we all regained consciousness and had to try out (after 4 years) Lutong Bahay near the UP Post Office. Walang kapaguran, we stopped by three different places - the UP gym to watch a volleyball game match between La Salle and UST (napadaan lang!), the mall to buy a pair of undies and a handsome duffle bag, and BK for a big bite on the whopper. I set foot in our humble abode around 7 in the evening Sunday.
Haay...So that was how my not so astoundingly exciting weekend ended.

Melanism
I don't exactly remember who wrote this. Somebody in my
Friendster network posted this on her bulletin last year and this just spread on cyberspace like some new viral strain. Anyway, a work colleague requested that I repost this. hahaha! K

gucci handbagsHappy Weekend everyone!!! =)
***
MELANISMS!!! hehe =)
Asked not so long ago what she had to say about "sex and violence" in the movies, a popular actress said, "Piano nga hindi ako marunong tumugtog, violins pa kaya?"
Hmmmmm. Witty? Yes - if she intended that "quotable" to be so.
No, the actress "spokening" wasn't Melanie Marquez who, like that one, is a self-confessed Madame Malaprop. (Note: Malapropism, meaning "a ludicrous misuse of a word," is derived from Mrs. Malaprop, a character in the play The Rivals by Richard B. Sheridan, 1751-1816)
I love my long-legged friend Melanie for, among other reasons (besides her fractured English), her way of unwittingly amusing and regaling us with her, that's it, malapropisms on national television. During the passionate word war between her half-brother Joey Marquez and Kris Aquino, Melanie provided the "comic relief" by mouthing quotables, thus firming up her reputation as the (uncrowned) Quotable Queen.
The good thing about it is that Melanie herself is amused/regaled by those little jewels tumbling out of her mouth, profusely especially when she's angry. She told me that she would have her TV guestings recorded and once she got home, she'd have a fun time watching the tapes and, yes, laughing at herself.
That's the spirit, 'no?
"Bakit," Melanie said during an interview. "'Yung magagaling mag-English diyan, may Miss International title ba sila?"
Oo nga naman. Mayroon ba kayo?
Don't look now but Melanie is seriously thinking of compiling her "Melanisms" into a neat little book like the pocket-size Mao little red book (of quotations, or Maoisms). Nice idea, isn't it? It should be a best-seller (like President Joseph Estrada's Eraptions).
When Melanie told me about it, I suggested that she jazz up the book with cartoons and call it Quote Me. But wait. Don't judge Melanie just yet because, as we all know, she's not a book.
Here and now, my friend Jonathan Chua (who's a STAR contributor) has compiled some Melanisms for inclusion in that much-awaited book, to wit:
. My brother is not a girl; he's a gentleman.
. That's why I'm a success, it's because I don't middle in other people's lives.
. Don't judge my brother; he's not a book.
. I won't stoop down to my level.
. Hello? Bulag ka ba? Bingi ka ba? Are you dep?
. 'Yung STD, baka sa maruming toilet lang niya nakuha yan.
. Eh, ikaw ba naman, durugin ang ari mo... Pag di ka naman manutok ng baril.
. We are lovers, not fighters.
. Kapatid ko pa rin siya. We are one and the same.
. I don't eat meat. I'm not a carnival.
. Eto na po ang pinakamaligayang pasko at manigong taon sa inyong lahat. (During her acceptance speech at a Metro Filmfest awards night where her bioflick, directed by her late father Temyong Marquez, won an award.)
. Sumasakit ang migraine ko.
. Ang tatay ko ang only living legend na buhay!
. Period na talaga; wala nang exclamation point. (When asked on S-Files if her present husband, Adam Lawyer, is her Mr. Right.).
. At a talk show after her break-up with Derek Dee, Melanie was asked if she had some words for Derek's mother (whom she partly blamed for the separation). "Oo nga," said Melanie, "pero i-English-in ko para maintindihan niya." She looked into the camera and, with the peremptoriness of royalty, said, "And to you, Mrs. Dee, I have two words for you. Ang labo mo!"
A few more:
- When asked for a message to her daughter who was allegedly abused by their
houseboy: "Don't worry little angel, big angel is here."
- On what they should do to the houseboy who molested her kid: "He should be
put behind bar."
- "You can fool me once, you can even fool me twice, you can even fool me thrice. But you can never fool me four"
- While waiting backstage during a noontime show, after watching Nikki Valdez do her dance number. "Nikki, you're so galing. You should go to the States. You will sell hotcakes"

Mimi: Will You Light My Candle?
Saw the trailer of
Rent on iTunes! It's coming out around Thanskgiving season this year, so am all excited about its film release. We (
Anj, Rosey, and I) actually planned to watch the Rep's production during those days when Rosey could effortlessly use her charms to reserve us good seats free of charge(of course, care of her Tita who, BTW welcomingly toured us around Miss Saigon Manila's backstage!). I regret now that we were not able to catch any of the Rent shows (Hmmm...were those scheduled around finals week?) Though I'd prefer the musical performed live, I'll make sure I won't miss its film showing this time.

Kiss The Rain
Vocal Rendition by Billie Myers
Hello...
Can you hear me
Am I getting through to you
Hello...
Is it late there
Is there laughter on the line
Are you sure you’re there alone
Cuz i’m
Trying to explain
Something’s wrong
You just don’t sound the same
Why don’t you
Go outside
up:
gucci bagsKiss the rain
Whenever you need me
Kiss the rain
Whenever I’m gone too long
If your lips feel lonely and thirsty
Kiss the rain
And wait for the dawn
Keep in mind
We’re under the same sky
And the night’s
As empty for me as for you
If you feel
You can’t wait till morning
Kiss the rain
Hello...
Do you miss me
I hear you say you do
But not the way I’m missing you
What’s new
How’s the weather
Is it stormy where you are
You sound so close but it feels like you’re so far
Oh would it mean anything
If you knew
What I’m left imagining
In my mind
My mind
Would you go
Would you go
Kiss the rain
As you fall
Over me
Think of me
Only me
Kiss the rain
Whenever you need me
Kiss the rain
Whenever I’m gone too long
If your lips
Feel hungry and tempted
Kiss the rain
And wait for the dawn
Keep in mind
We’re under the same sky
And the night’s
As empty for me as for you
If you feel you can’t wait till morning
Kiss the rain
Hello...
Can you hear me
Here Comes The Rain Again
Some good people from my past surprisingly made an earthly apparition to ask what I had been busy with lately. oh well, it has almost become mechanically unthinking of me to say that nothing much has made my life less boring than what I cyclically carry out on a daily basis. I’ve been planning to go out on an off-the-road getaway but most of the time I don’t have ample energy to set time for it.
On weekends, the biggest act of kindness I can do for myself is sleep more than 8 hours then read while some good music plays on my background. Well, I was overexcited about my initial plans for the weekend, but Mother Nature was not as elated as I had been so just decided to prolly arrange it after a couple of weeks. Daym! It would have been the perfect time to go on a road trip.
Now then, I’ve exhausted enough calories to whine about this foregone weekend away.

This good chum from high school has been in close correspondence with me to tackle a potential business. We’ve discussed this since early summer, and I am upbeat about the whole thing as well. But we are at the premature stages of putting this up, so we need ample time to draft a fine business plan (at least we’ve come up with a timeline). Anyway, it may not be a fancy business, but I think this will be a foil for our much-needed creative diversion.

I love Nia Vardalos’ “My Big Fat Greek Wedding.” Even if I watched it for the nth time last night, I still fell down laughing like it was my first time to see it. I dunno, maybe because they put a lot of love and candor in every form of humor injected. I am happy that they elevated good family values above all showcased cultural stereotypes. I recommend this for those who haven’t seen the film. In more than a dozen ways can one relate to the Portokalos family.

Random
I surely love waking up on a rainy Saturday afternoon. There was a heavy downpour as I had late lunch around 2, so I dropped my plan to meet some friends down South. I decided to stay home and continue downloading more House music for my iTunes. I’ve been charmed by the music for a time, though I never made an effort (till last weekend) to ask people the titles and artists behind those tracks. So now the likes of Kaskade, Groove Armada, Benny Benassi, Hed Kandi, and Chris Cox are kin during those rainy late afternoons and evenings when I’ve no other choice but stay home and be drenched by the dark rhythms.
By the way, I’m not really a fan of Cher’s but the Thunderpuss club mix of “This Is A Song For The Lonely” (dunno if I got the track title right) is mesmerizing!

So now, I’m waiting for a friend’s call. We’re up to watching Charlie tonight at the nearby cinema (mga taga-North lam nyo na ‘yun). I’ve been hearing nice reviews from friends, though I opted not setting high expectations of the film. Perhaps, I just need a diversion when a weekend outdoor adventure won’t come to pass.

I made the extreme sacrifice (so hackneyed with all these Oust GMA rallies happening everywhere=)) to wake up at 5 in the morning. I had to beat the early morning rush hour traffic that, we, the "Northside folks" endure as we head for work or wherever. I left the house a quarter past 6 and fortunately, I came in the Makati office just in time for the 8AM training.

gucci handbagsIt has been a couple of weeks after the Regional higher-ups launched the Professional Development Program so we need to start making self-assessments of how we have progressed in our respective functions. We had a fruitful 4-hour discussion, and in completing all the prework, most of us realized that we exceeded the expected business proficiency levels of our individual job roles for the past year. Hope this would address our career development concerns within the firm the soonest.
